Mechanical Design Engineer – Manufacturing Process Engineering
Location: Sunderland, UK

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting a global engineering business with the recuritment of a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong project management capabilities and communication skills.

Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of energy-efficient pumping systems and off-site MEP construction solutions for the building services, water utility, and industrial sectors. With a firm commitment to sustainability and technological innovation, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering bespoke solutions tailored to customer needs—managing technical aspects from initial enquiry through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage customer-specific engineered-to-order (ETO) pumping projects from estimation to commissioning.

  • Develop general arrangement layouts and P&IDs based on client specifications.

  • Provide technical support throughout the sales and delivery process, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.

  • Coordinate complex project orders, collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders.

  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices and document control within the ETO function.

  • Ensure all designs, bills of materials, and supporting documents meet company and international standards.

  • Deliver engineering inputs on time and with precision for both tenders and production.

  • Actively contribute to process enhancements and operational efficiencies.

  • Foster strong collaboration with internal teams and external customers.

    Requirements:

  • Proven experience delivering engineered solutions or projects, ideally within MEP, off-site construction, HVAC, or water/utilities sectors.

  • Proficiency in 2D/3D modelling and CAD tools

  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP is a plus.

  • Excellent planning, communication, and customer interaction skills.

  • A structured, process-driven mindset with the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
