NPI Engineer | £45,000 - £55,000 | Cambridge

Our client is looking for an experienced NPI Engineer to join their team and take a leading role in the full product development lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through to production and ongoing support. This role requires a strong background in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and hands-on experience transferring products into key manufacturing processes such as PCBA, Final Assembly, and Pack-Out. Proven collaboration with Contract Manufacturers to successfully introduce new products and processes is essential.

The Role:



Take ownership of the mechanical, electronic, and support aspects of introducing new product developments into the supply chain.

Work closely on new product development projects to ensure supply chain readiness and subcontract manufacturer capability for high-volume, high-quality production.

*

Develop and implement new manufacturing equipment and processes, ensuring they are fully documented, qualified, and capable of meeting yield and capacity targets.

*

Define and apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles, ensuring PCB and mechanical designs are suitable for production methods and cost-effective to manufacture.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

DFM Qualified

*

Proven experience as an NPI, Manufacturing, Production, or Process Engineer within electro-mechanical product environments.

*

Strong knowledge of the full New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle, from initial concept through to production ramp-up.

*

Solid understanding of electro-mechanical manufacturing processes, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and mechanical assembly.

*

Experienced in analysing production and test yield data in high-volume manufacturing environments to drive process improvements.

This role requires candidates to hold a full, clean UK driving licence and their own car. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
