Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

Location: Coatbridge, Glasgow
Shift:
Early - Mon-Thu 6-2 and Friday 6-4pm
Late - Mon-Thu 2-10pm and Friday off
Salary: £45,000 + 20% shift allowance

About the Role:

Are you a skilled mechanical maintenance professional looking for your next challenge in a dynamic industrial environment? Our client, a leading manufacturer operating within an Explosive Licensed Factory, is seeking a dedicated and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside electrical maintenance technicians and contribute to the smooth operation of critical mechanical systems across the site.

The Ideal Candidate:t

Experience:

Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role within an industrial or manufacturing setting
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
Skills:

Ability to work under pressure and maintain excellent organisational standards
Competent in problem solving and hands-on maintenance
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Safety-first mindset with a proactive approach
Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering
Key Responsibilities:

Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment including presses, valves, pumps, compressors, HVAC systems, motors, gearboxes, and pipework
Support regulatory compliance checks and statutory inspections
Diagnose faults and minimise operational downtime
Assist in continuous improvement initiatives and equipment upgrade projects
Maintain robust records using Safe Systems of Work including Permit to Work and Hot Works procedures
Support auditing of mechanical maintenance activities to ensure statutory compliance
Collaborate with process engineering and production teams on new equipment introduction
Provide mechanical trade expertise across factory and site infrastructure
