Graduate Project Engineer – Water Treatment Sector

Are you looking to launch your engineering career in a technically challenging and purpose-driven field?

A UK-based engineering company specialising in industrial water treatment systems is offering an exciting opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to join their growing project delivery team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with a passion for process engineering and project coordination, keen to contribute to innovative solutions across both UK and international markets.

About the Role

As a Graduate Project Engineer, you’ll become an integral part of the project team, supporting the full lifecycle of water treatment system design and delivery — from initial concept through to installation and commissioning.

You will collaborate with internal departments including Sales, Operations, and Service, and will gain hands-on experience in system design, supplier coordination, technical documentation, and site support. This position provides a clear development path toward professional engineering status.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with project activities throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

*

Perform process calculations and technical assessments for industrial water and wastewater treatment systems.

*

Support the multi-disciplinary design of treatment plant components, including specifying equipment, valves, pipework, and electrical connections.

*

Use proprietary and OEM design software to model system performance and validate designs.

*

Create technical drawings, including P&IDs and 2D layout schematics using AutoCAD.

*

Collaborate with mechanical design engineers on the development of 3D models and general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks.

*

Assist in producing and organising Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures and coordinating FAT activities with third parties.

*

Help produce comprehensive operational and maintenance manuals for client handover.

*

Support procurement and supplier liaison to ensure timely delivery of components and services.

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

*

A recent graduate with a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline.

*

Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

*

A confident communicator with the ability to work across teams and disciplines.

*

Familiar with engineering principles and ideally with some exposure to process chemistry or fluid dynamics.

*

Comfortable using engineering and office software tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office).

*

Professional, reliable, and capable of working both independently and within a team.

*

A holder of a valid UK driving licence (required for occasional travel to client sites or suppliers).

Location

The role is based at the company’s engineering and manufacturing site in the South West of England, offering the chance to work closely with on-site manufacturing and testing facilities

Where to Advertise Semiconductor Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise semiconductor jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, academic channels and community routes that actually reach IC, fab and EDA talent. The candidate pool is one of the smallest and most specialised in any engineering discipline — spanning IC design engineers, process engineers, fab technicians, EDA tool developers, compound semiconductor physicists and power electronics specialists. General job boards are largely ineffective for semiconductor hiring. The community is tight-knit, highly academic in its roots and concentrated around a small number of university groups, fab facilities and design centres. Specialist boards, academic channels and direct community engagement are the primary sourcing strategies that work. This guide, published by SemiconductorJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise semiconductor roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
