Are you a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer with a proven track record in both the Nuclear and Oil & Gas sectors? Are you Chartered with either the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE)? We're seeking a talented freelance professional to join our team on a project basis, contributing your expertise to complex and critical infrastructure projects.

As a freelance Senior Structural Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

Leading the structural design and analysis of various components and systems within nuclear facilities and oil & gas installations.
Conducting detailed calculations, simulations, and assessments to ensure structural integrity, safety, and compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, API, ASME, AISC).
Developing and reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, including civil, mechanical, and process engineers, to integrate structural designs seamlessly into larger projects.
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers as needed, leveraging your chartered expertise.
Participating in design reviews, hazard identification, and risk assessment processes.
Troubleshooting and resolving complex structural challenges.What we're looking for:

A strong portfolio of experience demonstrating significant contributions to projects in both the Nuclear and Oil & Gas sectors. Please highlight specific project types (e.g., power plants, offshore platforms, refineries, pipelines).
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with either the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) is essential.
Extensive experience with structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, Abaqus, ANSYS).
In-depth knowledge of structural design principles, materials, and construction methods relevant to these industries.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry best practices in the UK and internationally.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate remotely and present technical information clearly.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
