Job Title: Senior / Principal Process Engineer

Location: Preston, UK

Role Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior / Principal Process Engineer to join our client based in Preston. With over a million pounds worth of projects lined up and ambitious growth plans to expand by 10 more projects by the end of 2025, this is an exciting opportunity for an engineer looking to grow with a leading engineering company.

Key Responsibilities

Process System Design: Oversee the creation of process system designs and review key deliverables such as technical specifications and calculations.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure all process and technical outputs meet project specifications and comply with regulatory safety standards.
Design Reviews: Lead design reviews to confirm that systems meet project requirements and specifications.
Work Scope & Approvals: Review and approve all process and technical work scopes and specifications.
Subject Matter Expert: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all process engineering activities across business projects.
Project Resource Management: Accurately schedule and manage project resources, monitor task timelines, and support budget control within the assigned area.
Project Tracking: Provide estimates for quotes and track awarded projects through the department.

Minimum Requirements

Degree: Bachelor’s degree (BEng Hons) in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
Chartered Status: Chartered or working towards Chartered status (desirable but not essential).
Experience: Proven experience in H&M balances, equipment sizing, arrangement drawings, and package layouts in a senior or lead role.
Full Project Lifecycle: Previous experience across the full project lifecycle, from design through installation to handover.
Process Systems Design: Extensive experience in designing and delivering process systems.
Leadership Experience: Proven track record in leading engineering teams for projects exceeding £5m in value.
Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction and process industries, including relevant standards and regulations.
