Urenco is a global leader in the production of low-carbon energy. We work at the cutting edge of the transition to a sustainable, net-zero world.

We are seeking a Senior Engineer Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) to join our team at our Capenhurst location. In this role, you will deliver Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for Urenco’s customers, including conducting technical feasibility studies and Best Available Technology (BAT) assessments. As a CSA design engineer, you will be responsible for delivering Conceptual and Basic Design outputs for new builds or modifications to production facilities. You will also provide guidance and oversight on design development while working closely with third-party engineering service providers.

At Urenco, we are committed to helping you reach your full potential. If you meet some but not all of the qualifications, we still encourage you to apply. We value the passion and potential of our people and offer market-leading training and development opportunities. You will also have the chance to be mentored and coached by some of the smartest minds in the industry.

What You’ll Do:

Promote a Safety Culture: Actively foster a proactive safety culture and perform analyses that create a learning-from-experience behaviour.
Ensure Safety in Plant Designs: Ensure advanced plant designs incorporate safety features based on best industrial practices and lessons learned from the (nuclear) sector.
Maintain Design Knowledge: Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of facility design and licensing requirements within your area of responsibility.
Design Engineering: Determine CSA design engineering aspects, options, and evaluations that contribute to feasibility/optioneering studies, BAT assessments, and Site Design Development Plans.
Perform Technical Analysis & Develop Designs: Carry out calculations and develop designs in support of engineering programmes and projects for the assigned facility.
Provide Oversight: Provide direction and oversight for Detailed Design and supplier manufacturing quality processes when requested by site or group project managers.
Maintain Standards: Establish, control, and maintain Group Reference Design standards and specifications.

What You Need to Thrive in This Role:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, and Architectural Engineering.
Experience: Recognised expertise and significant experience in your area of specialisation.
Analytical Skills: Demonstrable ability to analyse and model complex technical design problems and define advanced design solutions.
Work Experience: Proven experience in design and engineering, particularly in complex and regulated environments like nuclear or industrial sectors.

What Can You Expect from Us?

More than just a job, we offer a future. More than just a place to work, we provide an opportunity to prosper. As an employee of Urenco, you will receive:

Annual Leave: Starting at 25 days, increasing by one day for every two years of service, up to a maximum of 30 days. You will also accrue 13 additional days off to be used flexibly. Additionally, there is a scheme for buying and selling up to 5 days of holiday.
Family-Friendly Policies: A diverse range of family-friendly policies to support your work-life balance.
Bonus Scheme: A competitive bonus scheme based on company and individual performance.
Pension Scheme: A defined contribution pension scheme with up to 16% employer contribution.
Medical & Dental Cover: Single private medical and dental cover.
Flexible Benefits: Including life assurance and income protection. You can also purchase additional benefits tailored to your lifestyle, with tax and National Insurance savings.
Education & Training: We take pride in helping people learn and develop. We provide support, accelerate learning, and offer training packages to meet your specific needs. As well as mandatory health and safety courses, we provide a variety of training opportunities to support your career development.
