Designing RF electronics for a thriving Cambridgeshire company

This company develops advanced RF electronics as standalone systems and subsystems for other manufacturers. Their technology has applications across both the commercial and government sectors. As their business continues to grow, they are seeking a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join their Cambridgeshire-based development team.

With involvement throughout the development lifecycle, you would work on aspects such as design, prototyping, PCB layout, test system development, debugging, documentation and IPR, and transition to manufacture. Reporting to the Hardware Development Manager, you will work in collaboration with colleagues from Marketing, Customer Support, Product Management and Manufacturing. You will have a high degree of ownership over the planning and prioritizing of your work.

You will need:

  • A degree in electronics or a similarly applicable subject from a well-respected university

  • Previous commercial electronics design, test, and debug experience including most of: PCB layout, low level comms – e.g. SPI, I2C, FPGA, Verilog, VHDL, microcontrollers and SOCs

  • Experience in developing embedded software in C and assembler

  • Experience with embedded Linux

  • Practical hands-on skills – prototyping circuits and use of common lab equipment

  • Full, existing, and unrestricted right to work in the UK

A knowledge of or interest in RF engineering, SDR radios, DSP, or high speed digital design would be beneficial but not essential.

This is an opportune time to join this successful company as their designs are in increasing demand. They are based in modern offices to the west of Cambridge. A competitive salary and benefits package, and hybrid working are on offer to the successful candidate.

Where to Advertise Semiconductor Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise semiconductor jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, academic channels and community routes that actually reach IC, fab and EDA talent. The candidate pool is one of the smallest and most specialised in any engineering discipline — spanning IC design engineers, process engineers, fab technicians, EDA tool developers, compound semiconductor physicists and power electronics specialists. General job boards are largely ineffective for semiconductor hiring. The community is tight-knit, highly academic in its roots and concentrated around a small number of university groups, fab facilities and design centres. Specialist boards, academic channels and direct community engagement are the primary sourcing strategies that work. This guide, published by SemiconductorJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise semiconductor roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
