A day in the life of a Murphy Planning Manager

Reporting to Senior / Project Engineers
Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with Company policies and procedures are promptly remedied.
Liaise with senior engineers and designer to ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works and have no impact to the programme, raising RFIs and TQs.
Maintain good working relations with client, designer, team and supply chain
Supervise assistant and site engineers
Support with temporary works (TW) design schemes, acting as TW Supervisor or Coordinator
Take a personal interest in identifying, coaching and developing key staff.
Advise and train other engineers on setting out methods and techniques
Support with the selection of materials and plant for the use in the construction processes.
Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.
Prepare Inspection and Test Plans for their implementation, ensuring all relevant records are kept
Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes/variations, subcontractor’s attendance, and records of work related discussions with client / designer / project team.

Engineering qualification from a reputable institution
Previous experience in clean water or wastewater civil engineering projects is desirable
Highly competent in surveying and setting out techniques and able to teach others.
Experience managing and mentoring junior engineers
Quality-oriented, with experience developing and implementing Quality Systems (i.e. ITPs, NCRs)
