Safety and Compliance Manager - Energy from Waste Power Station

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market leading energy company to recruit a Health and Safety (H&S) Manager for their Energy from Waste Power Station in Croydon, South London

The fundamental Health and Safety Manager role comes with a salary of up to c.£58,000 (DoE) + £4,694 location allowance + up to 10% Bonus + Private medical Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be responsible for:

Auditing and ensuring compliance with licenses, H&S Regulations and specific working plans.
Reviewing all monitoring data collected and provide guidance and corrective actions on problems identified and preparing monitoring reports and submissions to both external and internal bodies in compliance with permits etc.
Liaising closely with the SHEQ team to ensure best practice and ensuring timely reporting of incidents and accidents in line with the company regulations.
You will chair regular safety meetings to discuss issues both ways and act to resolve outstanding/ ascending items at the EFW plant.
Responsible for managing appropriate actions to prevent environmental breaches or other environmental incidents.
Ensuring top quality of the management systems are maintained at optimum levels.

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
A Degree or HND/HNC/ONC or equivalent in a relevant subject would be ideal
A NEBOSH or IOSH qualification

Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

The Health and Safety Manager role would suit someone who has:
A strong background in health and safety gained in a heavy process engineering environment such as power station, chemical plants, refinery, or waste/waste management facility.
Thorough understanding of waste / EFW industry will be highly advantageous.
