Our client based in the Bordon area is looking to recruit a Production Engineer. They are experts in electronic and mechanical design with a reputation for quality and field-proven reliability.

The Production Process Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimising manufacturing processes within an electronics production environment. The role ensures that production activities are efficient, repeatable, and aligned with quality standards. A key focus is placed on process documentation, standardisation, and continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing methodologies. The engineer will also support the introduction of new products and process changes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence.

Hours:

Monday to Thursday 8.30 to 17.30pm and Friday 8.30am to 12.30pm

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure product quality.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including process flows, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and control plans.
Conduct time and motion studies and implement changes to streamline workflow and reduce non-value-added activities.
Apply Lean Manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and root cause analysis (RCA) to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Evaluate existing production lines and propose enhancements in layout, tooling, and automation to improve throughput and ergonomics.
Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams during New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure smooth process handover and manufacturability.
Support and lead process validation activities including PFMEA, capability studies, and first article inspections.
Identify, investigate, and resolve process-related issues that impact yield, quality, or efficiency.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for processes and use data to support decision-making and improvement projects.
Ensure that all process changes are properly documented, validated, and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
Support the training of production staff in new processes or updated work instructions.
Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards (e.g. ISO 9001, IPC).

Qualifications

Degree or HND/HNC in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
Additional training or certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is highly desirable.

Experience/Competence

5+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing engineering role, ideally in the electronics or electromechanical industry.
Proven experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation for manufacturing processes.
Hands-on knowledge of Lean tools and methodologies, including practical implementation experience.
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for process routing, BOMs, and production planning.
Experience supporting or leading NPI transitions into production.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
Working knowledge of quality and regulatory standards (e.g. ISO 9001, IPC standards, ESD practices).
