Position Opportunity:

NIRAS Ireland are currently recruiting, an experienced and dynamic Automation Process Engineer who will be based on site at our clients advanced technology manufacturing facility, based in the beautiful North West of Ireland. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage execution of projects within our clients engineering group, carrying out and implementing equipment and process improvement initiatives as well as establishing department goals, schedules and timetables for activities with the clients engineering manager. This is a 12 month fixed term contract with the selected candidate reporting directly to the Automation Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure performance of preventative and demand maintenance to maintain manufacturing and utility equipment.

  • Assist management and supporting of manufacturing equipment development.

  • Electro-Mechanical troubleshooting, Validation of new processes and development of technical documentation

  • Identification of areas of opportunity for new technology

  • Design of new equipment and stations

  • Sourcing of new equipment. Supervise external contractors.

  • Equipment vendor liaison and Equipment Technical Transfer from other locations

  • Management of Capital Projects from inception to completion

  • Present project status to management. Deliver technical training

  • Maintenance of Manufacturing Equipment.

  • Preparation of Capital Expenditure Requests for Plant.

  • Develop monthly engineering metrics.

  • Ensure successful external, Division and Corporate audits, compliance with calibration requirements, compliance with PM on manufacturing equipment and compliance with instrument/equipment calibration per schedule

  • Identification and implementation of manufacturing equipment related CIP’s.

  • Issue management reports, management of budgets within target.

  • Cross train within manufacturing engineering.

  • Ensure safety standards met and safe working practices adhered to.

  • Implementation of equipment/process upgrade in continuous improvement environment. Supporting Engineering Team ensuring manufacturing equipment maintained to meet legal, division and corporate standards.

  • Ensure management of internal and external plant projects and implementation of all Personnel, Quality, Engineering & Safety policies.

  • Negotiate cost / quality external contracts. Prepare CAPA plans and implement timelines.

  • Developing new processes and completion of validations

  • Conducting acceptance trials on new moulds for sub-assembly equipment and introducing these into production

  • Present project status updates, participate in risk management activities

    Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Engineering or Science Degree

  • 3 years automation experience in medical device / pharma manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in assembly automation trouble-shooting, new line introductions (NPI) and validation activities.

  • Knowledge of Ultrasonic welding of plastic parts advantageous.

  • Good analytical and communication skills.

  • 3 + years plus of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
