A challenging opportunity has arisen at Glascoed for a Process Engineer working within a multi-disciplined team involved in the design, manufacture and support of new products.

The role is responsible for the development of manufacturing processes from concept through to commissioning and qualification. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a proven capability in developing manufacturing processes including system integration. The successful applicant will be the first point of contact for process queries within the team.

The successful applicant will have a strong background in manufacturing process development. They may also have knowledge of Non-Destructive Techniques (NDT) and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) Systems. Many processes involve the control of powders, liquids or slurries through pressing, casting or extrusion processes therefore knowledge of materials technology or fluids is desirable but not essential. In cases of no or limited materials technology processing, the candidate will demonstrate an aptitude to learn and develop expertise in this subject.

Specific duties will include the identification and management of process technical requirements, provision of expertise into the risk management process, provision of engineering support to the tendering process, implementation of Safe System of Work in line with Company and Statutory requirements and the technical management of the commissioning and qualification process. A further important part of the role will be the support of continuous improvement activities on existing products and processes, which will involve the planning and introduction of process changes in a controlled and timely manner.

A good knowledge of statistical techniques for measuring process capability and maintaining process control would be an advantage, including an understanding of six-sigma and the ability to develop, establish and maintain capable production processes.

Although knowledge of munitions and explosive processing is an advantage, it is not essential as training will be given. Experience of general manufacturing and engineering processes and techniques is essential.

Typical duties include

Develop new manufacturing processes, in line with Engineering Plans and Budgets. Technical solutions and processes must be robust, timely, cost-effective and meet Customer expectations.

Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with industry standard controls that ensure long term process stability, including: Lean Principles, Process Control Plans, PFMEAs plus awareness of Programmable Logic Controls and Visual Management Systems on automated process lines.

Specify and qualify new equipment, often working with suppliers to meet tight deadlines. Ensure all process equipment meets regulatory and safety standards.

To coordinate development activities to establish supporting data that ensures the manufacturing processes are based on a sound understanding of the materials which are being processed and the technology adopted for the plant and equipment.

To coordinate and manage a project data file capturing process and design information to include, trials data, process definition (including drawings and specifications), certification and safety data. This data is to be controlled through the company’s Product Lifecycle Management system.

Work with other engineering personnel and other functions to develop a network of capable suppliers to satisfy the business needs.

Lead and support project activities, to include process reviews, capability studies, and Safe System of Work.

Present to line management and other stakeholders (verbal and written) on topics relating to process status within development or production, e.g. KPIs.

To keep informed of general manufacturing technologies and assist in the development of future technology plans to support the Company objectives.

Where to Advertise Semiconductor Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise semiconductor jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, academic channels and community routes that actually reach IC, fab and EDA talent. The candidate pool is one of the smallest and most specialised in any engineering discipline — spanning IC design engineers, process engineers, fab technicians, EDA tool developers, compound semiconductor physicists and power electronics specialists. General job boards are largely ineffective for semiconductor hiring. The community is tight-knit, highly academic in its roots and concentrated around a small number of university groups, fab facilities and design centres. Specialist boards, academic channels and direct community engagement are the primary sourcing strategies that work. This guide, published by SemiconductorJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise semiconductor roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
