Nexperia is one of the world’s leaders in essential semiconductors and aspires to become a $10b turnover business by 2030. This ambition can be achieved through our next generation technologies, ongoing improvement in manufacturing sustainability, state-of-the-art facilities, and most importantly, investing in our people. We are expanding UK IT support team by hiring a Network Engineer to own, troubleshoot and resolve complex network and infrastructure incidents within a mission critical 24/7 semiconductor manufacturing environment.

What a Network Engineer will do:

Nexperia Manchester employs over 1,000 people across Production, Engineering, and Site Support Services, working together to produce over 14,000 semiconductors each week. As a Network Engineer, you will play a key role in keeping our site wide networks running without interruption to our manufacturing capability. You will leverage strong technical expertise across Cisco technologies and ITIL practices to maintain secure and highly available network services across the site. You will collaborate across teams locally and globally to deliver continuous improvements that enhance resilience, and you will get the chance to contribute to the strategic technical roadmap by driving modernisation and innovation.

Other key responsibilities Include:

  • Reviewing system logs, diagnostic data, and network monitoring tools to identify root causes.

  • Implementing effective corrective actions, ensuring minimal disruption to fab operations.

  • Taking ownership for problem resolution tasks and collaborating cross-functionally to drive service resilience.

  • Influencing technical decisions and strategic initiatives with subject-matter expertise.

  • Developing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation (MS Visio, MS Word, Confluence) accessible by all team members.

  • Reviewing team-generated documentation and coach others to produce standards-compliant deliverables.

  • Adopting an agile, continuous learning mindset, seeking feedback and self-development.

  • Achieving and maintaining intermediate-level industry certification(s) (e.g. CCNA/CCNP).

  • Implementing best practices around design, configuration, security, and problem-solving.

What a Network Engineer will need:

    Essential Requirements:

  • CCNA/CCNP qualification or equivalent experience; CCIE or advanced Cisco certifications highly regarded.

  • Experience with ServiceNow ticketing and service management processes.

  • Ability to design, implement, and support scalable, secure Cisco LAN/WAN/WLAN/DC networks.

  • Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and Layer 2/3 design with a deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, QoS, MPLS, VPNs, VLANs, and IP subnetting.

  • Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches; SAN and DC networking experience.

  • Check Point and/or Cisco ASA firewall experience and Cisco wireless networking (WLC, APs).

  • Cisco ISE, Prime Infrastructure management tools, and experience in MPLS and observium monitoring tools.

  • Familiarity with ITIL service management processes.

  • Willingness and aptitude for learning new systems and advancing skillset individually and as part of a team

  • Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom without the need for visa sponsorship.

    Desirable Skills

  • Degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is an advantage

  • Experience with F5 BIG-IP load balancers and related administration.

  • Exposure to SD-WAN technologies.

  • Prior work with Cisco ASA Firewalls.

  • Knowledge of advanced Load Balancing techniques.

  • ITIL Foundation certification desirable.

    What Your Benefits Will Include:

Remuneration & Reward: Starting salary of £38,000–£52,000 (DOE), Annual Incentive Plan of up to 6%, excellent contributory pension scheme (up to 9%), Electric Vehicle Salary Sacrifice Scheme, recognition rewards, income protection, 12x salary life assurance, and more.

Health & Wellbeing: 33 days of annual leave including bank holidays, flexible working hours, flexible benefits scheme, enhanced sick pay, on-site medical centre, virtual GP access, subsidised canteen, employee assistance programme, retail and entertainment discounts, and various sports and social clubs.

Professional Development: Funded academic support up to PhD level, personalised development plans, significant internal and global growth opportunities, and the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies.

Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability: A global commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2035, supplier partnerships aligned with the Nexperia Supplier Code of Conduct, and paid time off for volunteering and charitable work.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: We are proud corporate members of Neurodiversity in Business and a Disability Confident Employer. We support dedicated Employee Resource Groups including Neuroinclusion, LGBTQ+, and Women in Nexperia, with a target of increasing women in management positions to 30% by 2030.

Where to Advertise Semiconductor Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising semiconductor jobs in the UK requires a fundamentally different approach to most technical hiring. The candidate pool is one of the smallest and most specialised in any engineering discipline — spanning IC design engineers, process engineers, fab technicians, EDA tool developers, compound semiconductor physicists and power electronics specialists. General job boards are largely ineffective for semiconductor hiring. The community is tight-knit, highly academic in its roots and concentrated around a small number of university groups, fab facilities and design centres. Specialist boards, academic channels and direct community engagement are the primary sourcing strategies that work. This guide, published by SemiconductorJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise semiconductor roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

New Semiconductor Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and International Companies Transforming Chip Careers

The semiconductor industry is entering a new era of investment, geopolitical significance, and technological innovation. As advanced chips power everything from artificial intelligence and edge computing to autonomous vehicles and 5G infrastructure, demand for skilled professionals across design, verification, fabrication, and test engineering continues to rise. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.SemiconductorJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are scaling, raising funds, winning contracts, or establishing UK operations is critical. This article highlights the new semiconductor employers to watch in 2026, including UK innovators, major international players expanding locally, and emerging firms driving next‑generation semiconductor technologies.

How Many Semiconductor Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Semiconductor Job?

If you’re pursuing a career in the semiconductor industry, it can feel like you’re expected to master an endless list of tools, software packages and lab equipment before you even submit a CV. One job advert wants experience with TCAD and process simulation, another mentions SPICE and yield tools, while yet another asks for test automation platforms, yield analysis software, hardware description languages, EDA suites and hundreds of others. With so many technical names thrown around, it’s easy to fall into “tool anxiety” — the feeling that you’re behind because you don’t know every piece of software, every lab instrument and every process control suite. Here’s the honest truth most semiconductor hiring managers won’t say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every tool — they hire you because you can use the right tools to solve real engineering problems and explain your reasoning clearly. Tools matter, absolutely. But they exist to help you deliver measurable results — not to be collected like badges. So how many semiconductor tools do you actually need to know to get a job? The answer is a lot fewer than you might think — and far more focused on core capabilities than a long checklist. This guide breaks down what employers really value, which tools are essential, which are role-specific, and how to focus your learning so you are confident and credible.
