FPGA Engineer
Location: Nottingham
Salary: £50,000 - £75,000 DOE + Benefits

About the Role:
An exciting opportunity for a highly experienced FPGA Engineer to join a cutting-edge technology team working on high integrity, security-critical systems. This role involves architecting FPGA designs for new products, capturing requirements, leading development, and creating test-bench modules to ensure functionality. You will work with the latest FPGA technologies and design tools, with ongoing opportunities to expand your skillset. Occasional travel within the UK between company sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities:



Lead FPGA module design and development for high-reliability systems.

*

Define and coordinate interfaces between internal and external components.

*

Develop and maintain comprehensive test-bench modules to verify functionality.

*

Produce detailed design documentation and artefacts.

*

Stay current with emerging FPGA technologies and tools.

*

Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team and report to senior management.

Required Skills & Experience:

*

Minimum 8 years’ hands-on FPGA design experience.

*

Strong proficiency in VHDL and FPGA development lifecycle.

*

Experience with FPGA and SoC technologies.

*

Skilled in TCL scripting and using Modelsim/Questasim simulation tools.

*

Familiar with Quartus tool chain and version control systems (GIT/SVN/CVS).

*

Degree or higher in a relevant STEM discipline.

*

Excellent problem-solving abilities, communication, and autonomy.

Desirable Skills:

*

Experience with Vivado, Libero, Verilog, SystemVerilog.

*

Familiarity with UVM/OSVVM or Assertion Based Verification.

*

Knowledge of Network Layer 2 & 3 protocols, cryptographic algorithms.

*

Experience with high-speed, ultra-low-power FPGA tech.

*

Understanding of USB 3.2 and NVMe interfaces.

*

Familiarity with RedHat Linux environments.

Additional Requirements:

Must be a British Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DV security clearance.
