Astute's Power team is partnered with a global waste management company, who operate several Energy from Waste Power Stations, to recruit a Shift Team Leader for their Energy from Waste Power Station in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

The vital Shift Team Leader role comes with a salary of £62,501 + Up to 15% Bonus + Overtime + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Operations Manager,you will be responsible for:
Day-to-day leadership of the shift operations team who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
Managing the sites safety systems including the permit to work system and acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching, and carrying out isolations.
Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff engaged in work.
Providing effective training and monitoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties.
Providing effective administration and application of safe systems of work and Health and Safety policies

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Ideally have a HNC minimum qualification (not a necessity) in a relevant engineering discipline
Being HV Senior Authorised Person will be highly advantageous.
Ideally have a formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH

Personal skills and prior experience
The Shift Team Leader role would suit someone who has:
Prior experience working in operations within a heavy process engineering environment such as Power (EfW, Biomass, CCGT, OCGT, Coal, etc), Steelworks, Refineries, COMAH sites, etc
Excellent proven leadership skills
Thorough understanding of using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
Experience working with steam raising plant.
This role would also be suitable for senior Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers
Good Knowledge of safe systems of work and health & safety within a power station or similar heavy process environment

A salary of £62,501
Up to 15% Bonus
Overtime (1.5x)
