About the @one Alliance and Sweco: The Anglian Water @one Alliance is a collaborative organisation made up of nine partner companies delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme. We operate AMP8 with a focus on nature-based solutions and innovative project delivery. We are building an environment for career progression within a portfolio of AMP8 projects to keep water flowing across the region.

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Process Engineer who will provide technical leadership for process design on water projects within AMP8, review design outputs to ensure they meet standards, specifications and project objectives, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead the delivery of process design for projects, ensuring compliance with safety, technical, and quality standards.
  • Review design deliverables, including mass balances, hydraulic calculations, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design reviews and implement necessary changes.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior process engineers, promoting best practices and professional growth.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards, including hazardous area regulations (DSEAR).
  • Drive continuous improvement by championing innovation in design and digital technologies.
  • Assist in stakeholder engagement and supplier coordination to secure design approvals and project success.
  • Promote sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives within design practices to support environmental stewardship.
About You
  • A degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Chartered status or be working towards chartership.
  • Proven experience in the water sector, especially in process design and capital projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of process design standards, regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Experience mentoring and developing less experienced engineers.
  • Experience in a Design & Build environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental management within water projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with a collaborative approach and focus on continuous improvement.
  • A strong commitment to sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of engineering solutions.
