Senior Structural Engineer

UK operations are growing rapidly, with over 140 professional staff providing process engineering, civil engineering, energy, environmental, international development consultancy, and project management services to a variety of clients.
Due to increasing project commissions and appointments, they are seeking to appoint a full-time experienced Senior Structural Engineer

Purpose of Job Role
The delivery of projects, managing a team of structural Engineers and Technicians on a day to day structural designs and calculations.

Key Accountabilities

Project Delivery - The delivery of a project in a timely manner and on budget.
Collaborating with the Client - Working with the client to develop a full project brief ensuring that they achieve their desired result.
Managing Project Accounts - Ensuring that projects are undertaken to the specified budget and timeframes.
Managing Project Teams - Ensuring that projects are adequately resourced and the ensuring the time spent is as per the budgeted times
Preparing Calculations - Preparing Building Regulations calculations packages for submission to the Local Authority.

Specific Tasks
• The preparation of fee proposals for submission to the client.
• Ensuring that the project folder is maintained and that all team members are using the system to the current standards.
• Ensuring that QA standards are maintained within the projects and that all calculations and drawings are checked before issue.
• Managing the project on Maconomy ensuring that every protect each month has an ETC, Client Invoice, project spend is monitored against project progress.
• Ensuring time is spend aiding Management with tasks such as CPD for staff, Chartership Development, & Business Development.
• Developing project briefs and tendering for subcontractors.
• The carrying out of Structural Surveys and preparation subsequent reports.
• The preparation of project specifications

Person Specification - Essential
MEng. Civil or Structural Engineering
BEng Civil or Structural Engineering (minimum 10 years’ experience.)

Desirable
MIstruct|E /MICE. Chartered
Incorporated ICE / IStructE

Experience - essential
• 7 Years within the industry
• Two-Three projects involving with the following types of types of superstructure;
• Steel
• Reinforced Concrete
• Masonry

Desirable
10 Years
• Three projects involving with the following types of types of superstructure;
• Timber

Knowledge - essential
• Good working knowledge of both Eurocodes.
• Experience working with TEDDS or similar.
• The ability to carry out detailed calculations by hand.
• Experience in the following materials
• Steel
• Reinforced Concrete ( structures and Foundations)
• Masonry
• Timber
• A working knowledge of Geotechnics.
• A good working knowledge construction products in the marketplace.
• A good working knowledge of CDM Regulations and Health and Safety Protocols

Desirable
• Good working knowledge of British Standards.
• Working knowledge of one or more structural design modelling programmes
• The ability to carry out detailed calculations by hand.
