Process Engineering Group Leader / Oldham, Greater Manchester

An exciting job opportunity is available for an experienced Process Engineering Group Leader to take a key leadership role within a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment in Oldham, Greater Manchester. This job offers the opportunity to lead critical yield, quality, and continuous improvement activities across wafer fabrication and assembly operations.

In this job, you will be responsible for Electrical Yield, Mechanical Yield, and overall quality performance, ensuring robust processes and rapid response to yield loss and scrap excursions. You will manage and develop a team of Yield Engineers, working closely with Process Engineering, Test, Assembly, and Quality teams. This job suits a hands-on leader comfortable operating in a 24/7 manufacturing environment and influencing across functions.

Key Responsibilities for the Process Engineering Group Leader job:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the Yield Engineering team.

  • Own Mechanical and Electrical Yield metrics and drive improvement activities across process areas.

  • Report yield performance and scrap excursions, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Support assembly low-yield investigations and incoming wafer quality issues.

  • Manage MRB and non-conforming material processes.

  • Maintain and improve automotive controls including FMEA, SPC, AOI, DPAT, SYL, and SBL.

  • Support fab excursion events and interface with internal and corporate quality teams.

    Skills and experience required for the Process Engineering Group Leader job:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or a relevant Science discipline.

  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor wafer fabrication processes and device operation (MOS, BJT).

  • Experience working with automotive and ISO/IATF quality systems.

  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and influence teams across multiple disciplines.

  • Experience delivering improvement projects using structured methodologies such as Six Sigma.
