Our client is a dynamic and growing company specializing in the design, supply, and installation of high-quality pipework systems for a diverse range of industries. They provide bespoke solutions for water treatment, petrochemical, and other liquid/gas handling industrial and process applications, delivering projects from initial concept through to final commissioning. Their commitment to quality, innovation, and client satisfaction drives their success in delivering projects ranging from £10,000 to £2 million.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical/Project Estimator to join their team and play a key role in the continued growth of the company.

The Opportunity:
You will be instrumental in the initial stages of the projects, from handling client enquiries to generating accurate cost estimates. You will work closely with the design and installation teams, ensuring a smooth transition from the initial inquiry to the project execution phase. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute directly to the success of all projects and develop your skills within a growing engineering company.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for initial customer enquiries, understanding their needs and project requirements.
Thoroughly review and interpret client plans, drawings, and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of project scope.
Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) based on project plans and drawings.
Proactively source competitive prices for materials, components (including pumps, valves, pipework and holding tanks), and sub-contracted services from a network of suppliers.
Prepare detailed and professional cost estimates and quotations for clients, ensuring accuracy and profitability.
Maintain organized records of enquiries, BOMs, supplier quotes, and client estimates.
Assist in the preparation of project proposals and supporting documentation.
Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the estimation process.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimation processes and tools.
Provide administrative support to the project management team as required.

Qualifications and Experience:
Proven experience in an estimating or similar role within an engineering or construction environment, ideally within the pipework, mechanical, or process engineering sectors.
Strong understanding of technical drawings, specifications, and BOM generation.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and suppliers.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
A proactive and self-motivated approach with a strong work ethic.

Desirable Skills and Experience:
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Experience with ERP or CRM systems.
A relevant technical qualification (e.g., HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field).
Knowledge of pricing strategies and cost control.
